Pumpkins and Polka Dots

The past 6 or so days have been VERY LOOOONG ones in the Vogel house. First, Leah spiked a 103 degree fever requiring a trip to the pedi. It turned out to just be a cold and yes I probably overreacted, but hey, you can't be too careful these days. Then Kinsley developed a fever (another trip to the pedi) but it lasted 5 long miserable days. On the 5th day I took her back to the Dr. when she broke out in this terrible looking rash from head to toe. It was even in her ears. Turns out she has roseola. She still has the rash (polka dots) so it looks like we won't be leaving the house any time soon:(

Posing with the pumpkin she painted the day
she unknowingly contracted roseola. Did you
know it has an incubation period of 7-28 days?

When the fever broke we took some time to
carve our pumpkin.

Ham!!!

The previous picture and this one were only
taken a few minutes apart - Notice Kinsley's
outfit change. She got pumpkin on the first one.
My little fashionista insists on changing clothes
about 5 times a day. This makes for a lot of laundry!

You can kind of see the polko dots in this pic.
She's actually very proud of them.

Our Hero

October is fire safety month so, being the wonderful husband and father that he is, Doug graciously allowed me to volunteer his services to Kinsley's class last week. They were ecstatic to have a real live firefighter visit so they invited another class to join them. Doug had the privilege to present his fire safety tips to 24 two year olds. The teacher said that he held them captivated for a good 15 minutes. If you know any 2 year olds then you know that 15 min in their world is like 15 hours in ours. I'd say he was pretty successful and Kinsley was very proud to have her daddy there!
